About the event

In the Spring of 1862 Harriet Tubman made her way from Boston Massachusetts to Beaufort South Carolina with Liberation on her mind. She not only liberated the people she made amazing contributions to the economic wellbeing of the people right here in our Beautiful Beaufort County.  Her greatest victory locally is known as The Combahee River Raid and this was an astonishing victory freeing over 750 enslaved Gullah, Geechee, and indigenous people in the area of Yamasee. The Black Moses Freedom Festival aims to educate and celebrate this proud history and honor Harriet ‘Araminta’ Tubman as one of our personal and local heroes. No other State, City, or County can boast such a significant victory as one of the most famous successful missions of her legacy, as far as numbers. Harriet's greatest victory, of course,  was freeing her family, which is why she started this whole passion for freedom, she knew freedom was nothing without those you love there to share it with you. We want to share her life and legacy with you through this Heritage, Health, and Wellness Festival exemplifying Black Excellence in the LowCountry! At the  3rd Annual Black Moses Freedom Festival, you'll have the opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals, participate in interactive workshops, and support local artisans and vendors. From live music and dance performances to captivating storytelling sessions, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Don't miss out on this unforgettable gathering of spirits, as we honor the legacy of the Moses of the South and celebrate the progress we've made as a community. Join us at the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce on Fri Jun 07 2024 at 3pm to Jun 09 2024 for a weekend filled with joy, inspiration, and unity.
